Gary has dreamed of flying since he was a little boy. Washing airplanes in exchange free rides, he began learning about the joy of flying by listening to the stories told by the old timers at the local airport. That’s how it all began.
Gary joined the Air Force in 1968 and during his tour of duty, earned his private pilot license. He then went on to earn his commercial pilot license in 1972. Over the past 40 years, Gary has logged more than 2000 flying hours.
Since the first time Gary flew over the Grand Canyon in 1972, he knew it would always be his favorite place to explore. The Canyon is so vast that every flight offered him something new to see. Gary had always dreamed of the day when he could spend more time exploring the Grand Canyon and all of the surrounding areas in his own plane. In 2008, Gary purchased his new Aviat Husky A1-C. Gary feels the Husky is the best plane for getting in and out of the back country safely and reaching hard to access places. And with its tandem seating and huge windows, it is also a great plane for flight seeing and aerial photography. Oh, and it’s fun….The Husky is a lot of fun! The Aviat Husky is one of the safest and most reliable airplanes in its class and has been in production since 1987.
For the past two years, since moving to the Las Vegas Valley, Gary has been living his dream, introducing people to the joy of flying and inspiring them with the sights only to be seen in this very special place. For Gary it’s not just about the uncluttered airspace and the pristine beauty of the land, millions of years in the making. It’s all of that. But it’s big sky, beautiful colors, hard to reach places, incredible sunrises and spectacular sunsets, and people he meets along the way, that make the Grand Canyon a truly exhilarating place to fly. It’s the kind of place that airplanes are made for. Gary thinks it’s great and he encourages you to fly it yourself.
